JOOY YOGA

New to Yoga in South London? Here's Where to Start

If you’ve been thinking about trying yoga but don’t know where to begin — this one’s for you.

South London has no shortage of yoga studios.

A quick search will throw up dozens of options, each with packed timetables, drop-in classes, and glossy websites. But if you’re a complete beginner, that abundance can feel more overwhelming than helpful.

Where do you actually start? What if you can’t keep up? What if everyone else already knows what they’re doing?

These are the questions that stop most people from ever booking that first class. And they’re exactly why small, community-based yoga matters.

Why Small Classes Make All the Difference

There’s a big difference between following along at the back of a 30-person studio class and actually learning yoga.

In a small group — we’re talking up to 6 people — your teacher can see you. They can spot when something isn’t quite right, offer a gentle adjustment, suggest a modification, and make sure you leave feeling better than when you arrived. Not confused, not defeated, not quietly convinced that yoga just isn’t for you.
That’s the experience JOOY YOGA is built around. Every class at Rosendale Allotments is intentionally kept small, so every student gets the attention they actually need.

Yoga Classes in SE21 — A Hidden Spot Worth Finding

Tucked away from the main road in West Norwood, Rosendale Allotments is one of those quietly special South London spots that feels a world away from the city — even though the city is right there.
Classes currently run twice a week in the evenings, making them easy to slot around work:
  • Yin Yoga — Mondays at 7pm A slow, deeply restorative practice that releases tension held in the connective tissue. Ideal if you carry stress in your neck, shoulders, or lower back — or simply need to properly switch off at the start of the week.
  •
  • Slow Flow / Vinyasa — Wednesdays at 7pm A mindful flow that builds strength and flexibility at a pace that never rushes you. Perfect for stonger beginners and returners who want to move with intention.
  •
Both classes are beginner-friendly, props are provided, and you don’t need experience to walk through the door.

A Timetable That’s Growing

The current schedule has one class on Monday and Wednesday evenings — but that’s just the start. The JOOY YOGA timetable at Rosendale is growing, with more classes and session types planned as the community builds.
