About Me

Finding Yoga that meets you where you are

Hi, I’m Joy, the founder of JOOY Yoga. I teach beginner-friendly, alignment-focused yoga in small groups, privately, and in professional settings across London and abroad — for people who want to feel calmer, stronger, and more confident in their bodies.

JOOY Yoga is named after me — but it is about more than joy as a feeling. It is about finding steadiness, confidence and connection through yoga that feels clear, supportive and rooted in real life.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by busy yoga studios, unsure where to start, or stretched thin by the demands of working life, you’re exactly who I work with.

I create supportive, structured yoga spaces where there’s time to slow down, ask questions, and understand what you’re doing — without pressure, performance, or the feeling that you need to keep up.

From corporate pressure to conscious practice

Before becoming a yoga teacher, I spent over 16 years working in high-pressure professional environments, including HNW banking services. I understand long hours, constant responsibility, desk-bound bodies, and the quiet stress that builds when you’re always “on”.

Yoga wasn’t something I discovered as a lifestyle trend over 15 years ago— it became a practical tool that helped me manage stress, reconnect with my body, and create space in my demanding life. That lived experience shapes how I teach today.

I don’t approach yoga as an escape from real life, but as something that supports you within it.

My training & teaching approach

I initially trained with a strong emphasis on alignment, breath-led movement, and mindful progression in Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga with an Indian yoga school in Bali. I continued my studies into Yin and Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga, to support a wider range of bodies, needs, and life stages.

More recently, my work has also expanded to include reiki & sound-based practices, integrating healing elements into selected classes and events to support deeper rest, nervous system regulation, and emotional release.

My teaching style is:

  • clear, structured, and grounded

  • calm and supportive rather than performative

  • focused on foundations, safety, and understanding

You won’t be rushed or expected to keep up. But I do promote making progress which is steady, intentional, and individual.

Group classes, events & partnered experiences

Alongside my regular group classes, I run wellbeing events & retreats including partnered  experiences along side other talented practitioners or complementary local spaces.

I also operate a home travel business which supports every stage of my retreat offerings abroad and around the UK.

Wherever I teach, the intention remains the same: to create space for people to feel supported, present, and at ease.

Private & corporate yoga

I work 1:1 with private clients and deliver corporate yoga and wellbeing sessions for teams and organisations in workspaces around London.

Because I’ve lived a professional working life myself, I understand the realities of:

  • long hours and screen-heavy days

  • stress, fatigue, and burnout

  • the need for practices that are practical

Private and corporate sessions are tailored to the people in the room — focusing on mobility, breath, nervous system support, and realistic tools that fit into working life.

Who I work best with

I work especially well with:

  • beginners or those returning to yoga after a break

  • people who feel unsure in large or fast-paced classes and want more clarity

  • professionals managing pressure, stress, or desk-based work

  • individuals seeking consistency, structure, and guidance

  • teams looking for grounded, inclusive wellbeing support

If you want yoga that feels accessible, intelligent, and supportive — without pressure or performance — you’ll feel at home here.

How you can practice with me

There are several ways to work with me, depending on where you’re starting:

  • Start Slow — a free, beginner-friendly introduction to yoga from home

  • Explore Yoga — a structured 6 week beginner/improvers  course to build confidence and foundations

  • Group Classes — small, supportive weekly sessions in South London

  • Events & Workshops — including partnered and sound-based experiences

  • Private & Corporate Yoga — tailored sessions for individuals or teams

  • Prenatal / Postnatal Yoga – tailored for specific stages during and after pregnancy.

Each option is designed to meet you where you are, without overwhelm.

“As a total beginner, I felt at ease and supported from the moment I arrived.”

My final note

I believe yoga should feel grounded, human, and accessible. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, or spiritual. You don’t need to escape your life — the practice should support the life you’re already living.

If you’re looking for yoga that respects your body, your time, and the realities of modern life, I’d love to welcome you.
